Common Space, the world’s first independent, community-tasked satellite mission dedicated to peacebuilding and humanitarian action, has been named the winner of the 2025 Kluz Prize for PeaceTech. The award was presented in New York City on September 19, 2025.

Despite more than 1,000 Earth observation satellites currently in orbit, much of their data remains inaccessible to those who need it most. This lack of trusted geospatial information delays humanitarian aid, obscures human rights violations, and fuels disinformation.

Common Space is closing this gap by developing an optical imaging satellite that will deliver open-access imagery over areas of acute humanitarian need. Founded by Rhiannan Price and William Greer, and governed by principles of ethics, transparency, and the public good, the initiative aims to empower local communities, educators, journalists, and human rights advocates with reliable data to act in critical moments.

"The Kluz Prize for PeaceTech affirms that peace deserves bold infrastructure, not just incremental fixes. For Common Space, this recognition helps catalyze a movement to repurpose satellites as tools for dignity, protection, and peace."
— Rhiannan Price, Co-Founder, Common Space
